Patient-Centered Medicine Starts with Quality Information

POSTED BY Galen Institute on November 7, 2013.

Someone who is diagnosed with a disease such as diabetes needs to know as much as possible about the illness and treatment options. But too often, information online is scattered and even unreliable. Pfizer’s “Value of Medicines” fact sheets are a valuable resource to help patients understand their diagnosis and learn the importance of proper care. The Pfizer papers are based upon solid academic research, but the information is presented in a way that is easily accessible to the average person.

In addition to Diabetes care, Pfizer has short papers on Medication Adherence, Oncology Medicines, and Statins. In an era of information overload, these papers can be extremely useful to patients seeking accurate and accessible information to help them in managing their health care and making sure they know and understand treatment options. Enabling a patient with accurate information is true patient-centered medicine. Check out: http://www.pfizer.com/news/press_kits/value_of_medicines
